<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">How to Start a Skincare Routine</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<div>My skincare routine has changed many times over the years since I started out when I was a teenager. Our skin ages and changes, so we adapt our routines as we grow older. Depending on a couple of factors our regimens can be very different from those of others. <br />
I know that it can be overwhelming considering the huge variety of skincare products on the market from cleansers, serums, masks, moisturizers, facial oils etc.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Taking the proper steps to ensure good skin health is essential. So, what are the things to consider if you're trying to start a new skincare regimen?</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><h2>1. Identify Your Skin Type</h2><div>Before starting a new routine the first step is identifying your skin type. It's crucial to choose the right product that would be the most suitable for your skin. This will also narrow down your choices and ensure you're addressing your skin concerns properly. You don't want to be using a moisturizer targeted for dry skin if your skin is oily.</div><div><br />
</div><div><ol><li>Normal - It's a well balanced skin regarding oil and water content.</li>
<li>Oily - Producess excess sebum, and usually this skin type has large pores.</li>
<li>Dry - Doesn't produce enough sebum and lacks lipids that makeup our skin barrier.</li>
<li>Combination - T-zone usually is oily while the rest of the face feels dry.</li>
<li>Dehydrated - This skin type can be either dry or oily as well, but lacking moisture instead of lacking oil or having an excess of it. </li>
</ol></div><br />
<script async="" src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script><br />
<ins class="adsbygoogle" data-ad-client="ca-pub-2434920063535668" data-ad-format="fluid" data-ad-layout="in-article" data-ad-slot="1428473455" style="display: block; text-align: center;"></ins><br />
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script><br />
<br />
<h2>2. Choose your steps</h2><div>The steps you'll take for your skincare routine also depend on what your skin needs are, but the basic steps for a simple yet effective routine are as follows:</div><div><br />
</div><h3>Step 1: Cleanser</h3><div>You'll need to cleanse your skin at least once a day. Going cleanser free in the morning would be ideal but there are some skin types that cannot skip it. So the best thing to do is to choose a gentle cleanser that will not strip your skin of its natural oils and hydration.<br />
<br />
<h3>Step 2: Toner/Essence/Serum</h3></div><div>I'm not talking about the old alcohol toners that would dry out your skin even further. Using a good toner or essence as your second step will provide the much needed hydration and other properties to address your skin concerns depending on the toner or essence you choose. These are so great for oily skin types that often can't tolerate heavy oclussive creams.</div><div><br />
</div><h3>Step 3: Moisturizer</h3><div>Why follow up with a moisturizer if you've already used a toner, essence or serum? Moisturizers provide extra hydration and make sure there is no further moisture loss. If you have oily skin and are worried about using a moisturizer, there are a lot out there which are light in consistency and would not congest your skin.</div><div><br />
</div><div><h3>Step 4: Sun Protection</h3></div><div>I cannot stress enough how important is suncreen for our skin. And it's not meant to be used only in the summer, but all year round.</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ig-Tw7s4M34/XpYus8Kx23I/AAAAAAAABFc/T6J2-aZXVwU4UmRrktEAJE0UaQeEAiXZACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/skincareroutine1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1068" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ig-Tw7s4M34/XpYus8Kx23I/AAAAAAAABFc/T6J2-aZXVwU4UmRrktEAJE0UaQeEAiXZACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/skincareroutine1.jpeg" width="426" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><h2>3. Stick to Your Routine and be Patient</h2></div><div>Well, now that you have all the steps down, you'll need to give your skincare routine some time to work. I know that we get impatient and want instant results from our skincare products but that's not how it works. There is no overnight cure to good healthy skin.<br />
Being consistent for a couple of weeks will make the results become more visible. And during this time you need to listen to what your skin is telling you and how it's reacting to your new regimen.<br />
<br />

Most of us have been there. Body acne is annoying, especially when you don't know the cause of it and no matter what you're doing it doesn't seem to go away.<br />
<br />
<br />
<h2>What causes Back Acne?</h2><div>People with oily skin are more prone to back acne, also referred to as "bacne". Oil, along with dead skin cells that are not exfoliated properly clog the follicles and bacteria may be trapped inside. Changes in hormones also cause back acne.<br />
<br />
</div><div>There are different types of acne lesions that you can get:<br />
<br />
<ul><li><b>Whiteheads </b>(closed comedones)</li>
<li><b>Blackheads</b></li>
<li><b>Papules </b>- small red bumps on the skin</li>
<li><b>Pustules </b>/ pimples - white or yellow pus-filled papule with a reddened base.</li>
<li><b>Nodules </b>- when it develops deep beneath the surface of the skin - forms a large and painful nodule.</li>
<li><b>Cysts </b>- Larger and pus-filled acne lesions. Very painful and can even scarr the skin.</li>
</ul></div><div><br />
</div><h2>How to Treat and Prevent Back Acne?</h2><script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script><br />

</script><br />
<h3>1. Change your diet</h3><div>This has made the most difference for me. Eat more foods that reduce inflammation: tomatoes, olive oil, green leafy vegetables, such as spinach and kale, avocado, fatty fish, nuts, fruits such as oranges, cherries and blueberries.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Avoid food that causes inflammation: refined carbs, dairy, soda, red meat, french fries and margarine.<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>2. Always shower after a workout</h3></div><div>Shower as soon as you can after your workout. Do not let sweat and dirt sit for long on your skin. And don't forget about your workout clothes - They need to be washed regularly, too.</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><div><h3>3. Topical Treatments</h3></div></div><div>Shower at least every other day and use a scrub/body wash that contains salicylic acid or a sulfur bar soap. <b>Salicylic acid</b> helps reduce inflammation, as well as dissolves dirt, oil and dead skin cells that clog the pores. <br />
<b>Sulfur</b> dries out the surface of your skin to remove excess sebum that may cause breakouts. It is gentler than salicylic acid, suitable for sensitive skin types.<br />
<br />
However these two do not cut it for moderate acne, so if you have not seen any results it's time to move to <b>benzoyl peroxide</b>. It works by penetrating the pore and killing the bacteria that get trapped inside and cause you to break out.<br />
<br />
If you have nodules or cysts I recommend consulting your dermatologists. They're harder to treat and require medication and extractions, which you cannot perform yourself.<br />
<br />
<br />
</div><div><div style="text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial;"><div><h3>4. Check your skincare & haircare products</h3>Avoid using skincare like moisturizers that contains oil or comedogenic ingredients. They can clog your pores and cause inflammation which can lead to acne.</div><br />
If you have long hair, your hair is in contact with your back most of the time, especially in the summer. Make sure that to keep your hair off your back and check your hair products for ingredients that may aggravate your acne.<br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><br />
</div></div></div><div><h3>5. Change your laundry detergent</h3></div><div>This is one of those things that we don't really think about. However, products that contain fragrance can irritate the skin and worsen breakouts. If you're seeing that your acne is not going away even after trying treatments it could be the laundry detergent so it's best to go for unscented and gentle detergents.</div><div><br />
<br />
</div><div><h3>6. Avoid excessive sun exposure</h3></div><div>There is this myth that sun can help clear up acne which is not true. Sun exposure can actually worsen acne and you risk of getting hyperpigmentation as well. If you must stay in the sun, always wear an oil-free sunscreen.</div><div><br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-byanHYJ6PWw/XZVbXJGkkWI/AAAAAAAABDc/91Lls7_iKN4OZya4t9X1OJ4TzQ_fE-mHwCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/getridofhyperpigmentation.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="How to Get Rid of Hyperpigmentation" border="0" height="426" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-byanHYJ6PWw/XZVbXJGkkWI/AAAAAAAABDc/91Lls7_iKN4OZya4t9X1OJ4TzQ_fE-mHwCK4BGAYYCw/s640/getridofhyperpigmentation.png" title="How to Get Rid of Hyperpigmentation" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<h2>
What is Hyperpigmentation?</h2>
<div>
Hyperpigmentation are dark spots that appear on your skin as a result of excess melanin production. Melanin is the pigment that gives our skin its color. There are a few types of hyperpigmentation which include: post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, age spots and melasma. <br />
<br />
Sun exposure can cause melasma (as well as changes in hormone levels) and sun spots on areas that are exposed to the sun, whereas post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is caused by burns or acne. The later can also become worse from prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h2>
How can you treat Hyperpigmentation?</h2>
<div>
Hyperpigmentation is usually harmless, but many people wish to get rid of it for cosmetic reasons. There are treatments available and other things that you can try to treat and prevent hyperpigmentation.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">And the most important factor for prevention is <b><u>SUNSCREEN!</u></b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />
</b></span></div>
<div>
Avoid sun exposure and use a sunscreen, at least <b>spf 30 with broad spectrum coverage daily</b>. Reapply every 2 hours if you have to stay out in the sun and possibly avoid the sun during the time of the day when it's too hot outside.</div>
<div>
If you're not using sun protection, every other treatment that you apply topically will not have the desired effects and probably you won't be noticing any visible difference on your skin.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Topical Treatments</h3>

<div>
Hydroquinone is a prescription a skin lightening treatment and it is considered the gold standard treatment for hyperpigmentation, but there's been some back-and-forth on its safety for decades. It is banned from use in cosmetic skin lightening products in Europe, Australia and Japan.<br />
<br />
<u>Here are some other effective treatments:</u><br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Retinoids, such as Tretinoin</b> - Penetrates deep into the skin, reduces epidermal melanin and speeds up cell turnover. One should be careful introducing this ingredient into their routine, especially if you have sensitive skin. Should be used only at nighttime.<br />
<br />
</li>
<li><b>Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid)</b> - Antioxidant. Plays a big role in combating dark spots. It's more effective at neutralizing free radical damage when combined with sunscreen.<br />
<br />
</li>
<li><b>Niacinamide - </b>is a form of Vitamin B3. Has been clinically proven to decrease hyperpigmentation at concentrations as low as 2% after four weeks of treatment.<br />
<br />
</li>
<li><b>Alpha Arbutin</b> - The purest and most effective form of arbutin. Arbutin is a naturally occurring derivative of hydroquinone that has no damaging side effects. Works by inhibiting an enzyme found in melanocytes (increase melanin production) known as tyrosinase. Works on all skin types.<br />
<br />
</li>
<li><b>Azelaic Acid</b> - Widely used to treat both hyperpigmentation and acne. Inhibit the enzyme tyrosinase, which is needed for the production of melanin. It's well tolerated for hyperpigmentation in darker-skinned people.<br />
<br />
</li>
<li><b>Licorice Root Extract - </b>It's becoming a popular skincare ingredient in kbeauty. It has many skin benefits and contains a skin lightening compound that can slow down the production of darker pigments.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<h3>
Cosmetic procedures</h3>
<script async="" src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script><br />
<ins class="adsbygoogle" data-ad-client="ca-pub-2434920063535668" data-ad-format="fluid" data-ad-layout="in-article" data-ad-slot="1428473455" style="display: block; text-align: center;"></ins><br />
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script><br /></div>
<div>
If you feel like topical application of serums or creams is not working for you or you want faster results there are other alternatives:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br />
<ul>
<li><b>Laser Treatments - </b>use high-energy light beam and work by breaking up and eliminating the pigment in the skin. The downside is that not all lasers on the market are suitable for darker skin tones.<br />
<br />
</li>
<li><b>Chemical Peels - </b>stronger concentrations of acids which penetrate deeper into the skin to produce quicker results.</li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
If you're unsure of where to start and what to use exactly for your hyperpigmentation talk to your dermatologist so you can make a treatment plan.<br />
But remember! <b>Protecting your skin from UV rays by wearing sunscreen daily is key.</b><br />

Dry frizzy hair is something that we all struggle with at one point or another. Dry hair leads to split ends, frizz and breakage and makes the hair look lifeless.<br />
Common reasons are: Over washing our hair, using hair tools (dryer, flat iron or curling iron) on a daily basis and environmental factors.<br />
However, you don't have to go to the salon often and spend hundreds of dollar, when you can have great results using natural ingredients that are hanging around in your kitchen. You can make your own hair masks at home which can help you nourish and repair damaged hair.<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Here's a list of 4 easy hair masks that you can do at home:</u><br />

<h2> 1. Avocado, Banana, Egg & Olive Oil and Hair Mask</h2><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h7RQRiuoc8M/XZFptboTHoI/AAAAAAAABBY/HQ1lf3whtJMIbETlB7ofVUo7Y-pJ82NXACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/avocado.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="avocado hair mask" border="0" data-original-height="333" data-original-width="500" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h7RQRiuoc8M/XZFptboTHoI/AAAAAAAABBY/HQ1lf3whtJMIbETlB7ofVUo7Y-pJ82NXACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/avocado.jpg" title="" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div><b>Avocado </b>is excellent for treating damaged hair and adding shine and body to it. It's rich in fatty amino acids which provide your hair with deep hydration and help it retain moisture. With vitamins and minerals such as copper, iron, vitamin A, B6, D, and E, avocado deeply nourishes your hair and scalp and promotes hair growth.<br />
<br />
<b>Bananas </b>are rich in potassium, natural oils, carbohydrates and vitamins which protect the hair's elasticity and prevent split ends. They're also great for dandruff as they will add hydration and antioxidants into your hair.<br />
(<b>Important: </b>People who have latex-fruit allergies should avoid applying bananas topically.)<br />
<br />
<b>Eggs </b>are power-packed with proteins, minerals, and B-complex vitamins which strengthen hair and prevent hair loss. <br />
<b><br />
Olive oil</b> preserves moisture and helps to decrease friction, detangle the hair, and minimize frizz.<br />
<br />
</div><h3><u>Ingredients:</u></h3><div><ul><li><b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">1/2 avocado</span></b></li>
<li><b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">1/2 banana</span></b></li>
<li><b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">1 whole egg</span></b></li>
<li><b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">1-2 tablespoons olive oil</span></b></li>
</ul><div><b><br />
</b></div><h3><u>How to use:</u></h3></div><div>Put the avocado, banana, egg and olive oil in a blender until you're left with a homogeneous mixture (with no clumps). Section your hair and apply the mask to clean damp hair. Use a shower cap and leave in for 20-30 minutes (or longer). Then shampoo and condition as usual.</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><h2> 2. Yogurt and Honey Hair Mask</h2></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iAxnr-P_4Gw/XZFwRQ1CMFI/AAAAAAAABBo/Sf9YjMhFdJsQvR8e425V9PbpwQcRAVU_ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/yogurthoneymask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="yogurt hair mask" border="0" data-original-height="333" data-original-width="500" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iAxnr-P_4Gw/XZFwRQ1CMFI/AAAAAAAABBo/Sf9YjMhFdJsQvR8e425V9PbpwQcRAVU_ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/yogurthoneymask.jpg" title="yogurt hair mask" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div><div>Natural <b>Yogurt </b>is full of protein that strengthens the hair and makes it healthier. Calms frizzy hair and keeps it hydrated for longer. It also contains fat that moisturizes your hair and makes for a great natural conditioner. When applied to the scalp reduces the clogging of the hair follicles due to its lactic acid content. Has a cooling effect and balances the pH of your scalp. It's great for oily hair types to regulate sebum production.</div><div><br />
</div></div><div>Honey is a humectant and emollient - it attracts and retains moisture in your hair. Helps to soften and smoothen. Full of vitamins (rich antioxidant properties), prevents damage and it’s also skin food for your scalp (strengthens the hair follicles).</div><div><br />
</div><div><h3><u>Ingredients:</u></h3></div><div><div><ul><li>4 tablespoons plain yogurt</li>
<li>2 tablespoons honey</li>
</ul><div><br />
</div></div></div><div><div><h3><u>How to use:</u></h3></div></div><div>Mix yogurt and honey well together. Start applying the mixture from the roots to the ends of your hair while massaging the scalp. Put on a shower cap and leave the mask on for 20 minutes. Wash as usual.</div><div><br />
<br />
</div><h2> 3. Mayonnaise Hair Mask</h2><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mHWidl01SL8/XZF5KLeJ1-I/AAAAAAAABCE/URA2baa-KsQWFCiHfq7cItcZYP8M0bO5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/mayonnaise.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="281" data-original-width="500" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mHWidl01SL8/XZF5KLeJ1-I/AAAAAAAABCE/URA2baa-KsQWFCiHfq7cItcZYP8M0bO5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/mayonnaise.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><b>Mayonnaise </b>contains egg yolks, vinegar, and oils that can boost shine, nourish and moisturize the hair and scalp. It helps seal the hair’s cuticle which will reduce frizz and will leave you with softer smoother feeling hair.<br />
<div><br />
<div><h3><u>Ingredients:</u></h3></div><div><ul><li>Mayonnaise depending on the length of your hair</li>
<li>You can add some olive oil</li>
</ul><div><br />
</div><h3><u>How to use:</u></h3></div><div><br />
</div><div>Dampen your hair. Start by applying the mayonnaise from the roots (those with oily scalps can avoid the roots and start mid length) and spread to the ends using a wide toothed comb. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes and wash your hair afterwards.</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><h2> 4. Coconut Oil, Egg and Milk Hair Mask</h2><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3n2Yy0XYc5U/XZF1UUM9e0I/AAAAAAAABB4/vAIvT2Q_ChYj-Y9UpdjhDwVm2rpcRI1sgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/coconutoil%2Bhair%2Bmask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="coconut oil hair mask" border="0" data-original-height="333" data-original-width="500" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3n2Yy0XYc5U/XZF1UUM9e0I/AAAAAAAABB4/vAIvT2Q_ChYj-Y9UpdjhDwVm2rpcRI1sgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/coconutoil%2Bhair%2Bmask.jpg" title="coconut oil hair mask" /></a></div><div><br />
<b>Coconut Oil</b> - rich in antioxidants and fatty acids, with antifungal and antibacterial properties. Has been shown to stimulates hair growth by getting deep into the hair follicles. It increases the hair's moisture retention and reduces protein loss, by preventing hair breakage. Improves hair texture, softens it and makes it shinier.<br />
<br />
Eggs and milk contain proteins and vitamins to nourish and strengthen the hair structure. Milk has lactic acid - helps exfoliate and remove debris and make hair softer.<br />
<br />
</div><div><h3><u>Ingredients:</u></h3></div><div><ul><li>2 T cup organic coconut oil, melted</li>
<li> 1 egg, whisked (with the yolk)</li>
<li> 1/4 cup whole milk</li>
</ul></div><div><br />
</div><div><div><h3><u>How to use:</u></h3></div></div><div><u><br />
</u></div><div>Whisk the egg with the milk in the same bowl. Combine them with (melted) coconut oil and mix well. Proceed with applying the mask on damp or dry hair. Since this is a watery mask it would be ideal to apply it with a small brush. Leave it in for 15 minutes and then shampoo and condition your hair as usual.</div><div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<h2>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> 1. Going to sleep without washing your face</span></h2>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is something that we're all guilty of. After a long day we get home and then go straight to bed without washing our face. Sleeping with makeup on will block your pores and lead to acne. <br />
Also skin regenerates during sleep, so with all the makeup and impurities that it has accumulated during the day, it cannot function properly. It disrupts cell turnover, leaving your skin looking lifeless and dull.<br />
So always wash your face at night before going to sleep.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">And to make it worse: <b>Not washing your pillowcase regularly!</b><br />
Not only we make the mistake of sleeping with our makeup on, but we also do not change the pillowcase as often as we should. All the impurities from our skin and hair can cause breakouts.</span></div>
<div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<h2>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> 2. Overexfoliating</span></h2>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Removing dead skin cells definitely makes your skin look younger and radiant - unless you overdo it. Skin should be exfoliated only 1-2 times per week to speed up cell turnover. But lately, with the increase in use of active ingredients many people are using exfoliating acids on a daily basis, which is not good for the skin.<br />
<br />
<b>How to tell that you're overexfoliating your skin?</b><br />
</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Skin feels irritated more than usual</span></span></li>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">You experience redness and inflammation</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Breakouts</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Patchy/flaky and dry skin texture </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Increased sensitivity to application of subsequent products in your regime</span></li>
</span></ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
If you feel like you have been overexfoliating your skin, take a break for one month and stop using acids/retinol or physical exfoliatiors until your skin has healed.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h2>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> 3. Rubbing your face with a towel or makeup wipes</span></h2>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I personally wouldn't even recommend that you use makeup wipes. Excess tugging and rough wiping cause fine lines and wrinkles to form prematurely. So I would recommend only oil and balm cleansers to remove your makeup. If you do use other types of makeup removers where it involves using a cotton pad, then gently press the pad to the eye, and hold it in place with light pressure. Do not wipe forcefully.<br />
<br />
The same things applies when you're drying your face with a towel. You should not be tugging the skin, but gently patting it until it's dry. You should especially be careful around the eye area since that is the most delicate part of your face.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<h2>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> 4. Picking and popping your pimples</span></h2>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As tempting as it is, popping your pimples or squeezing blackheads will only make the condition worse. Picking the skin will cause inflammation and can lead to scarring. So, instead try to spot treat your pimples.<br />
And if you're doing blackhead extration yourself, you risk of damaging the shape of your pores.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <script async="" src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />

</span> <script>

</script><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <br />
<div>
<h2>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> 5. Eating a no-fat diet</span></h2>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Not all fats are bad for us. Your body needs healthy fats to support cell growth, absorb some nutrients and produce important hormones. Omega-3 fatty acids in particular assist in collagen production. So, do not restrict your fat intake and consume more avocados, olive oil, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds to get the nutrients that your body and skin need to function properly and be healthy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />
</span> <br />
<br />
<h2>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> 6. Sleeping on one side</span></h2>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sleeping on the same side every night can cause wrinkles on the side of the face that is in contact with your pillow. Applying repeated pressure will cause collagen to break down and eventually result in deep lines overtime. You can avoid this by trying to sleep on your back. Although this may be uncomfortable for many people since they are used to their sleep position, but with a little practice it is doable.<br />
<br />
But wait! Still finding it hard to change your sleep position? There is another option: <br />
<b>Change your pillowcase! </b>Upgrade your pillowcase from cotton to satin or silk. There will be less fraction and your face will glide on the pillowcase without tugging the skin.<br />
</span></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">10 Anti-Aging Habits For Healthy Skin</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">You can have a good skincare regime which of course it's VERY important, but there are also many factors that play a role in the health of your body and skin that you may or may not be aware of. So, here is my list of dos and don'ts if you want to look younger and prevent premature aging:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div><h3 style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> 1. Always apply sunscreen.</span></h3><div><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"></span></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I cannot stress this enough. Use sunscreen</span> all year round (<i>with an SPF of 15 in the winter and 30-50 in the summertime</i>) to protect your skin from sun damage and prevent: wrinkles, rough patches, sagging, and hyperpigmentation. Sunscreen also protects against skin cancer and effectively decreases skin aging when applied regularly over a long period of time.</span></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>TIP:</b> Do not rely on makeup for sun protection! Drink plenty of water.</span></h3><div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Hydration, hydration, hydration. It is recommended that you drink 8 glasses of water a day. Without water, your skin can’t function at its best. Drink more water and tea and try to eliminate as much as you can coffee and sodas. Staying hydrated keeps the skin looking young and glowing.</span></div><div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />

You might have noticed how your skin might look after a night that you haven't got much sleep. The dark circles look more prominent, complexion looks dull and lifeless. Your body (and skin) repairs itself and recovers while you sleep. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night is ideal and also try to go to bed early.</span></div><div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />

<div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">If you're not eating correctly no matter what products you're applying topically, your skin and hair will show it. Try to reduce your sugar intake. When you're craving sweets reach out for some fruit instead. Incorporate more veggies into your diet and try to eat more healthy fats (olive oil, avocados and nuts) and lean protein (fish, yogurt, beans, and eggs).</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Avoid fad diets, they don’t provide the nutrition necessary to keep your skin looking young.</span></div><div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />

</span></div><div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Whether you prefer running, hitting the gym or doing yoga, exercising your body has shown to be a protector of youth. It increases blood flow which helps nourish skin cells by carrying oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout the body. Exercise has also been shown to reduce stress levels. We know that stress in one of the biggest culprits to worsen our health.<br />
<br />

Manage your stress.</span></h3></div><div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">As I mentioned above stress can have a negative impact on your health and skin. When you're worried or anxious all the time, your body is producing Cortisol, which breaks down collagen and causes wrinkles and sagging skin. However, we all have things that help us relax and make us feel better whether it is hanging out with a friend, going for a walk, doing yoga or watching movies. Find out what it is for you and do it regularly. <br />

But, the truth is that heat is not good for our skin because it dries it out and damages the protective barrier. This leads to skin inflammation and faster aging. So, keep your showers short and the water warm. Do not forget to moisturize your skin after getting out of the shower. You'd want to restore hydration as fast as possible.</span></div><div><br />

<h2>
<br />
What are pores?</h2>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Pores are tiny openings that contain oil-producing sebaceous glands to protect the skin from dirt and bacteria and allow dead skin cells to reach the suface. What determines their size is genetics, but don't get discouraged because there are a couple of ways to make them appear smaller. <br />People with oily skin types may notice that their pores appear larger in size due to the fact that their skin produces more sebum that fills up the pore. Pores also start to lose their shape when you age since your skin starts losing collagen.</span></div>
<div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<h2>
5 Skincare Tips to Minimize Pores</h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
1. Steaming</h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Actually pores do not change their size due to the cold or heat, but steaming (heat) can cause the sebum to loosen and come out more easily. You maybe would've noticed this if you've cleansed your face after coming out of the shower. I would recommend you not to do this often though, since heat is not that good for the skin, but if you feel like your pores get filled with oil and even cleansing cannot get rid of it you can try it out a few times a month.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">How to: Fill the sink with hot water and keep a towel over your head. You can do this in small intervals since it can get difficult to breathe.<br />Don't steam your face for too long, or get too close to the hot water.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div>
<h3>
2. Cleansing</h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Maybe you see where I'm going with this. Keeping your pores clean is very important to make them look smaller. Start off with an oil or balm cleanser. They help with melting the sebum on the surface well, eleminating the blackheads that feel bumpy to the touch. Then follow up with a water based cleanser.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<h3>
3. Hydration (Toner/Serum/Moisturizer)</h3>
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Keeping the skin moisturized helps improve the look of the pores just how it helps with wrinkles and fine lines. When the skin is well hydrated and feels plump skin looks tighter and bouncier. It almost looks kind of blurred and pores appear smaller.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K5fYks9itCw/XY6EKrT7chI/AAAAAAAAA88/WkSl0ygfSLAqSdTO45KHfZkOsrJDmUtMQCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/hydration.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K5fYks9itCw/XY6EKrT7chI/AAAAAAAAA88/WkSl0ygfSLAqSdTO45KHfZkOsrJDmUtMQCK4BGAYYCw/s400/hydration.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<h3>
4. AHAs / BHA (Salicylic Acid) / Niacinamide</h3>
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Another important step, and not only for pores but also for skin texture in general, is EXFOLIATION. Chemical exfoliatiors like AHAs would be more suitable for dry skin types and BHA for oily skin. BHA gets deep into the pores and breaks down the sebum. There are a lot of products which include both.<br />Niacinamide is another great ingredient for pores. It controls oil production, so the less oil you produce the less your pores will be congested and will not expand. <br />Hydration also helps with balancing the oil production.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"></span><br />
<h3>
5. Diet</h3>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Doesn't necessarely has to do with pores in particular but with your overall skin health. To keep your skin in good condition you need to have a balanced diet, which should consist of fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and other nutrient-rich foods. </span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>Important TIP:</b> I know it's very tempting to extract and squeeze those blackheads out of your pores and you probably even have a tool for it, but I would not recommend it. You risk of damaging the skin and the shape of your pores. Leave it to a professional and if you follow the tips above you'll have less and less blackheads to deal with.</span><br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oQB5UNaMBGg/XXLPspsnq0I/AAAAAAAAA18/wMYiNP1i1wszkbjqI8rzPreznmJNEMGCgCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/skincareorder.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h5PMZLXRzZA/XXLyF9zWbSI/AAAAAAAAA2s/9OtVBM8nrSQRHkc18fza0XStMLeRITkTACK4BGAYYCw/s1600/skincareorder2-01.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="correct skincare order" border="0" height="377" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h5PMZLXRzZA/XXLyF9zWbSI/AAAAAAAAA2s/9OtVBM8nrSQRHkc18fza0XStMLeRITkTACK4BGAYYCw/s640/skincareorder2-01.png" title="correct skincare order" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Considering the vast number of skincare products hitting the market every month or the 10 step korean skincare routine, it's easy to get overwhelmed. And if you have a bunch of skin concerns like myself you cannot just use a single product and expect your skin to become glowy and flawless the next day. <br />
<br />
So, it's safe to say that the average woman has at LEAST (emphasis here haha) 10 beauty products in her arsenal and certainly purchasing new ones on a monthly basis. Brands come out with new ingredients and formulations constantly and we want to try and find what is more <i>suitable </i>for our skin type.<br />
<br />
Now, you've ended up with a considerable amount of products and you proceed to try them out and pile them on your skin. Some of you may be confused and wonder if what you're doing is correct or effective and may ask yourselves:<br />
<br />
<h2>
Does the order in which I apply skincare matter?</h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BB5dlb8BB6w/XXLYhVMz5PI/AAAAAAAAA2I/07lUOUbrdFYDH7i5vXyNxPM7FWaYrSFxQCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/skincarelayeringproducts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="layer skincare properly" border="0" height="358" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BB5dlb8BB6w/XXLYhVMz5PI/AAAAAAAAA2I/07lUOUbrdFYDH7i5vXyNxPM7FWaYrSFxQCK4BGAYYCw/s640/skincarelayeringproducts.jpg" title="layer skincare properly" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;">To put it simply: Yes, it does matter! And to be honest most women know the basics, such as: products with lighter consistency are applied first. I don't know anyone who would apply moisturizer before toner. xD It just makes sense that toner comes first. And I would say that knowing the basics is enough if your skincare routine is simple and you don't have that many skin concerns to take care of. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<span style="text-align: start;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: start;">But, what if you want to incorporate more products in your routine which appear to be of similar consistency, or an active ingredient or two? How about sunscreen, in which step does it belong?</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<span style="text-align: start;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: start;">I know it gets complicated, but don't worry! Here is a post from <b>Kbeauty Notes</b> to help you answer all your questions on how to apply products in the correct order. And not just by consistency</span><br />

<div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's important to now all these steps to get the full effects of your products and avoid possible irritations that can happen when you layer incompatible ingredients. The last thing you'd want from your skincare products is to cause harm instead of fix the problems you are having with your skin.<br />

For this reason I don't prefer using sugar scrubs on my face. There are better options that you can choose from. Another thing to keep in mind is to not overdo it. It is recommended to exfoliate no more than twice a week. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Here is the recipe:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #990000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><u><span style="font-size: large;">a) Cornmeal</span></u><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #444444;"> (Physical exfoliator)</span></span></span></span></span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #444444;">Cornmeal</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<ol>
<li><span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Cornmeal</b></span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Yogurt</b></span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Grapefruit juice</b></span></span></li>
</ol>
<span style="color: #444444;"> </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Mix cornmeal and yogurt into a paste and add a teaspoon of grapefruit juice. Massage your face gently for 30 sec- 1 min. You can rinse it off or leave it on for 2-3 minutes. I prefer to leave it on and then rinse with lukewarm water. Follow with a cool rinse, dry your face and put on a moisturizer of your choice.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;">-<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><u>Cornmeal</u> </span></span>contains <span style="color: #45818e;"><i>Vitamin C</i></span> (helps build connective tissue and heal wounds rapidly with minimal scarring), <span style="color: #76a5af;"><i>Vitamin A</i></span> <br />
(enhances skin’s moisture optimally for desirable elasticity that reduces aged appearance), and <span style="color: #76a5af;"><i>phytochemicals</i></span> like phytic acid (antioxidants for protection against environmental free radicals in the form of pollu</span>tants<span style="color: #444444;">). Cornmeal acts as a sponge absorbing the oil from skin without drying it out– leaving skin soft and shine-free with radiant vitality. Promotes healthy epidermal cell growth.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="color: #741b47;">Yogurt</span> </span></span>(Chemical exfoliator)</span></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #444444;">Plain yogurt</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="color: #444444;">Plain Yogurt contains Zinc, Lactic acid, Calcium, B-Vitamins.</span> <span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: #76a5af;"><i>Zinc</i></span> contains anti-inflammatory properties, has mild anti-astringent properties that help tighten tissues and helps regulate oil production in the sebaceous glands thereby preventing oily skin and frequent acne breakouts. <i><span style="color: #76a5af;">Lactic Acid</span> </i>helps smoothen rough skin, exfoliate and moisturize. Besides that, lactic acid is also very beneficial in helping steer away wrinkle. <span style="color: #76a5af;"><i>Calcium</i></span>. Much of the epidermal layer of the skin consists of calcium, so it is necessary for skin regeneration.Has great anti-oxidant power. <span style="color: #76a5af;">Vitamin B2</span>(riboflavin) for hydration and glowing skin.</span> <br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #741b47;"><span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Grapefruit Juice </span></span></span><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-size: small;">(Chemical exfoliator)</span></span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Grapefruit</td></tr>

<br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Grapefruit juice has restorative properties that can help tone skin, even out skin color, and safely and gently cleanse skin. The <span style="color: #76a5af;">anti-oxidants</span> in grapefruit will fight free radicals in the skin that can cause lines, wrinkles, discolorations and other blemishes. Natural <span style="color: #76a5af;">anti-bacterial</span> properties. <br />Of the citrus fruits, grapefruit has the highest concentration of <span style="color: #76a5af;">vitamin C</span>, which is necessary for collagen production in the skin.</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3262831247497861952.post-74481260378901500772014-01-05T21:26:00.000+01:002014-01-29T23:53:21.785+01:00Get rid of redness - sensitive skin<div>
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: #444444;">Pumpkin makes an excellent face mask ingredient for all skin types, especially environmentally damaged or sensitive skin. It is packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which increase cell turnover, to </span><span style="color: #e69138;">brighten</span><span style="color: #444444;"> and </span><span style="color: #e69138;">smooth</span><span style="color: #444444;"> the skin. It contains </span><span style="color: #e69138;">antioxidant</span><span style="color: #444444;"> Vitamin A and Vitamin C to help soften and soothe the skin and </span><span style="color: #e69138;">boost collagen</span><span style="color: #444444;"> production to prevent the signs of aging. The molecular structure of pumpkin is small and therefore can penetrate deeper into the skin when used topically.</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">To get rid of the redness on your face you can just use <span style="font-size: large;">pumpkin puree</span>, but I like to combine it with other ingredients for added benefits.</span><br />

I'm not going to talk about if they're worth the hype or not, since that is not the purpose of this post. In few words : Asian brands tend to cater more for asian skin. For instance, asians are very prone to pigmentation, that's why whitening
products are highly sought after, which is the focus of many asian
brands. In terms of performance, I think you can find good/bad products whether they're Asian/Au/European or US products. It all depends on what the needs of your skin are. </span></span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="color: #444444;"><i><span style="color: #741b47;"><u>What I'm concerned about</u></span></i>: </span><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: #444444;"> </span></span></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: #444444;">If you take a look at the <b>ingredients</b> they are pretty much the same thing you find on european/american labels and </span>the list of ingredients is one of the things I look into when I buy a product. I've already made a post on which ones you should look out for when you purchase a product so you can check it out <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/04/harmful-cosmetic-and-skin-care.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="color: #444444;">Now, to examine all the ingredients one by one isn't convenient at all, so luckily for us there are some websites that serve this purpose.</span></span><br />

</div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #444444;">In this post I would like to share some tips on how to use an epilator (from </span><span style="color: #444444;">my experience)</span><span style="color: #444444;">. Despite my skin being </span><span style="color: #444444;"><i>extremely sensitive</i></span><u style="color: #444444;">,</u><span style="color: #444444;"> I use an epilator because I have a lot of leg hair.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><u><br />I don't want to shave because:</u></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">When I shave, my hair starts to grow back out the very next day. Coarse in texture and very dark. Since I have sensitive skin when hair has just started to grow, my skin itches too much.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><u>When I use the epilator:</u></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><u><br /></u></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">1. Hair starts to grow after 7-10 days.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">2. Initially only 40% grows back.(Hairs will not grow at the same pace)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">3. Epilating won't make your hair darker or coarser.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>Preparation and how to use it:</b></span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #741b47;"><u>Exfoliate</u></span><span style="color: #444444;"> - Whether I shave or use the epilator, I always get ingrown hairs when I don't exfoliate my skin. You should do this <u>regularly</u>, but if you're too lazy exfoliate the day before. I use a loofah rather than scrubs. I find that it works better for this purpose (at least for me it does). Showering beforehand will make it just a little less painful, but make sure you're skin is completely dry before epilating. Do not put on any lotion/cream.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #444444;">Epilate when the </span><span style="color: #741b47;"><u>hair is short</u></span><span style="color: #444444;"> - 2-3mm is the ideal length. When I epilated for the first time I cried because my hair was long and it was extremely painful. I simply couldn't handle it so I stopped and shaved the rest. </span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #444444;">Hold the epilator </span><span style="color: #741b47;"><u>90 degrees</u></span><span style="color: #444444;"> against the skin. Hold the skin taut and move it slowly against the grain of the hair.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="color: #444444;">Epilate the day before going out since you might get a lot of </span><u><span style="color: #741b47;">redness</span></u><span style="color: #444444;">. It takes my skin 1-2 days to go heal completely.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I use <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2013/01/coconut-oil.html" target="_blank">coconut oil</a> to get rid of it. Apply it as soon as you're finished epilating. It is the only thing that has worked faster than any other product I've used to reduce the redness/irritation. When the skin absorbs it I reapply two more times. </span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I don't need to use an ice pack, but if it is too painful for you go ahead and use it.</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Avoid epilating right before or during your menstrual cycle.(Too Painful)</span></span></li>
</ul>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span><span style="color: #444444;"></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1LDNWMCurUA/UUOUol2PREI/AAAAAAAAAmk/e-U7DGpsDvg/s1600/epilation-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1LDNWMCurUA/UUOUol2PREI/AAAAAAAAAmk/e-U7DGpsDvg/s1600/epilation-3.jpg" /></a></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">You will </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">get used to the pain</span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> after you epilate a couple of times. You'll begin to get comfortable and relax the muscles hence it will hurt less.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> -Except the legs, I epilate my underarms so easily now. The area has been used to the epilator and it doesn't matter how long the hair is, it never gets irritated or red. I don't even apply anything afterwards. I just epilate them both for 30 sec and I'm good to go.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">-On the contrary, my arms are beyond sensitive. Except redness, I get bumps as well. They don't go away for days no matter what I use. So I don't use an epilator on my arms anymore.</span></span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Coconut oil</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="color: #444444;">There is a lot of information on the Internet on coconut oil and its benefits, so in this post I'm going to write about how <b>I</b> prefer to use coconut oil and also compare it to other oils. This is my personal experience so it may not work the same for everyone since everybody is different, but it's worth giving it a try.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1.<span style="background-color: white;"> </span></span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Pre-poo</span></span><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">.</span> </span></b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">I use coconut oil on dry and damaged hair and it is the best oil I've ever used. I though it would be heavy, but it <u>doesn't weight my hair</u> down at all. It leaves the hair <u>soft</u>, <u>reduces frizz</u> and makes it <u>shiny</u> without looking greasy. It is slightly better than <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/06/hair-masks-recipes.html" target="_blank">olive oil</a>, because I feel that it makes hair a little softer.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">I still like to use jojoba and grape seed oil on the roots of my hair and scalp(If I'm experiencing dryness) because they are very light and don't affect the oil production of the scalp.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">However I do use olive oil on the scalp in case<span style="font-family: inherit;"> of dandruff or if</span> it gets flaky.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><i><u><span style="background-color: #cfe2f3;">How to use it</span>:</u></i></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">(Coconut oil is solid so you have to melt it first.)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">I use it on damp(or wet) hair so in this way the oil will seal in moisture. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Comb your hair, and then take a spray bottle, fill it with water and spray it on your hair. Use a narrow container for the oil so you can easily put a narrow toothed comb in there to pick it up and then comb your hair spreading the oil on the dry/damaged hair. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Always start from the ends. In this way your hair won't tangle. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then shampoo.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">2. After epilating.</span></b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">Even though my skin is very sensitive I use an Epilator to remove the hair on my underarms and legs. And the problem is that my skin would stay <i>very irritated</i> for two days and it takes a very long time for the <b>red spots</b> to go away completely. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Igzab_gb0mI/UOdqEjR3EPI/AAAAAAAAAjk/k9GiuTgvZhM/s1600/legs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Igzab_gb0mI/UOdqEjR3EPI/AAAAAAAAAjk/k9GiuTgvZhM/s200/legs.jpg" width="150" /></a></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">I've used creams and oils(sweet almond oil) and they've had the same effect. <i><b>Coconut oil </b></i>was the only thing to <i>work faster to heal the skin</i>.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Apply the oil immediately after you epilate and again after some hours.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Since this may not work for everyone I recommend you epilate e small area on your leg, apply the oil twice a day and see if it works any different than whatever you have used before.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">3. Heels.</span></b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Whenever you get out of the shower apply some coconut oil on your heels. It will soften the skin and prevent heels from cracking.</span> Immediately wear socks after the application.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">4.Deodorant. </span></b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">I have made a <span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">separate</span> post about this so <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2013/01/diy-deodorant.html" target="_blank">click here</a>.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">5.Scrubs</span>.</b> (lips + body)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Scrubs always turn out great no matter what oils you use. My favorite recipe with coconut oil for both lips and body is :</span><br />
<ol>
<li><span style="color: #b45f06;">Coconut Oil </span></li>
<span style="color: #b45f06;">
</span>
<li><span style="color: #b45f06;">Sugar</span></li>
<span style="color: #b45f06;">
</span>
<li><span style="color: #b45f06;">Lemon</span></li>
</ol>
<span style="color: #444444;">Mix the ingredients together until it reaches the right consistency for you.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">Let me know in the comments below how do you like to use coconut oil :)</span><br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o9jf03jltd4/UP2hcGRvI4I/AAAAAAAAAkk/Opj7oeMwsvM/s1600/baking+soda.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o9jf03jltd4/UP2hcGRvI4I/AAAAAAAAAkk/Opj7oeMwsvM/s200/baking+soda.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<span style="color: #444444;">1. <b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Baking Soda.</span></b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">I tested baking soda as a deodorant this summer and in this post I'm going to let you know the results. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">First of all, you should know that I sweat A LOT. If I skipped deodorant for a day I would stink. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">Here is what I did:</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">-I showered the night before I went out and applied baking soda generously on my armpits and went to sleep. I did <u>NOT</u> reapply it in the morning and I wore a tank top so my armpits were bare.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">The temperature that day was above 30<span class="st">°C and I stayed outside for 5 hours.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st"><u><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Results</span>:</b></u> </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st">When I returned home my armpits <span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><u>didn't smell at all</u></span>. It was just a slight sweet smell. You could barely sense it. And I swear that it lasted a little more than <span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">40 hours. <span style="font-family: inherit;">I was <b>very</b> surprized because my expectations were very low.</span></span><br /><br />BUT, when I tried BS two more times it didn't work. Here I'm going to tell you why and give you some tips:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<ol>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st"> Apply the BS on cleaned armpits.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st"> Let it sit until the area is <b>completely</b> dry and don't do anything that will make you sweat during that time. -This was the mistake I made. After applying BS I started blow drying my hair. But when I applied it at night and went to sleep it worked perfectly fine. </span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st">Wear white cotton T-shirts underneath your clothes. -Even if you're using regular deodorant wearing cotton is the best choice, because other fabrics transform the smell and make it much worse than it actually is. My armpits wouldn't smell that bad, but the cloth on that area would stink badly. Also BS won't stain the white shirt.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st">If you sweat because of stress and anxiety BS is not going to work. It didn't work for me in the days that I was stressed.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st">It will remove the residue on your armpits caused by deodorants.</span></span></li>
</ol>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span class="st"><br /></span><b><span class="st"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><u>How to use it</u></span> :</span></b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"> The application is very easy. Just wet the BS with water and rub it on your armpits.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"> <i>Warning</i>: Those with sensitive skin should test BS on their skin first, because it can be irritating.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">2.<b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Coconut oil + Baking soda</span>.</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DsY41sOCWC0/UP3Rci4bqoI/AAAAAAAAAlA/umvxBvRCOtw/s1600/coconutoil.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DsY41sOCWC0/UP3Rci4bqoI/AAAAAAAAAlA/umvxBvRCOtw/s200/coconutoil.jpg" width="200" /></a>You are going to need :</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"> a) 2/3 cup Virgin coconut oil ( when it is liquid it's clear in color)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"> b) 1/4 cup Baking soda</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"> </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">(Many people add arrowroot, cornstarch and essential oils to the recipe ,but I don't know how it works with these ingredients. Essential oils with <u>anti bacterial properties</u> are a good idea though.)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">-First, melt the oil and then add bs. Take a small container and put plastic wrap around it(because it's easier to take the mixture out after it solidifies.) Put it in the fridge or let it solidify in room temperature.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">You can directly use it on skin. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">-Another method is to whip the coconut oil and then mix it with bs. Apply it with your fingers. Make sure you've washed your hands first.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">You can chose whichever method you prefer. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2XDi5F1o70U/UOOC5uWIJcI/AAAAAAAAAis/QukrV3D9vU4/s1600/greenclay11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2XDi5F1o70U/UOOC5uWIJcI/AAAAAAAAAis/QukrV3D9vU4/s320/greenclay11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="color: #444444;">French Green Clay has enormous absorbent powers due to the constitution
of its micro molecules. It literally "drinks" oils, toxic substances,
and impurities from your skin. Its toning action stimulates the skin by
bringing fresh blood to damaged skin cells, revitalizing the complexion,
and tightening pores. The highly micronized, and often fragile
molecular state of French Green Clay allows for far greater absorption
of impurities, dust, oil, contaminants, and make up than other clays.. (<a href="http://www.morethanalive.com/French-Green-Clay-Powder" target="_blank">http://www.morethanalive.com/French-Green-Clay-Powder</a>)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: #38761d;"><u><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">USAGE</span></u></span><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">:</span></b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">French green clay is more suitable for <u>acne prone</u> and <u>oily skin</u>. Not recommended for dry and matured skin<b> </b>types.You can use white clay as an alternative. Also not recommended for dehydrated skin (Your skin being dry/oily has nothing to do with moisture. So it can be both oily and dehydrated. Unfortunately, I fall into this category). If your skin is dehydrated and you really want to use this clay , you <u><b>must</b></u> apply a moisturizer afterwards.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">Use only once a week as a face mask and daily as a spot treatment.</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;">- Mix clay and water into a paste. Start with clay and add water gradually until it reaches the right consistency. (Don't use a metallic container or anything metallic to stir.)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;">- Apply a generous amount on your face, leave it on no more than 5-10 minutes and then rinse it off before <span style="font-family: inherit;">it dries.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">-For daily usage apply a thick layer on the targeted area , cover it with a clean material and rinse it off after 2 hours.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">You can also use this clay on your body. I use it on my shoulders because that's where my skin tends to break out. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LRFptEHKqoY/UPQwhdYt5DI/AAAAAAAAAkA/pxrSxBv0SQs/s1600/clay-mask-for-pimples.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LRFptEHKqoY/UPQwhdYt5DI/AAAAAAAAAkA/pxrSxBv0SQs/s200/clay-mask-for-pimples.jpg" width="200" /></a><span style="font-family: inherit;"><u><b>What I have noticed after using it as a mask:</b></u> </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">1<span style="font-size: small;">. The skin feels clean and..</span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">2. ..looks brighter.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">3. Tight and cleaned pores.</span></span> <br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">4. Blackheads removed by 90%. (You can notice only a few.)</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">5. It dries out pimples. ( I had a very big irritated pimple on my cheek and the next day after I did the mask it was much more smaller and flattened. I easily covered it with make-up. There was no bump.)</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Since the mask worked so well I ha<span style="font-size: small;">v<span style="font-size: small;">e</span>n't used the</span></span> clay as a spot treatment, but it would definitely help fade anything faster.</span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">If you've tried this clay please let me know how it worked for you. :)</span></span><br />

I know many people clean their face with oatmeal, so I thought I would give it a try since everyone says that it works and even helps to get rid of acne. You can use oatmeal <u>regardless of your skin type</u>. My skin is probably the most problematic one. It's thin,oily and super sensitive. I have never found a cleanser that would work for me. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">They would be too drying, would make my skin flaky, red or even cause allergic reactions. </span>Let alone weather conditions which make it even more difficult to find something suitable for the skin. It's really a struggle. So I only use natural options to take care of my face's skin.( I use <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/03/rice-water-for-your-face.html" target="_blank">rice water</a>, <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/10/rose-water.html" target="_blank">rose water</a> and read <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/04/how-to-have-clear-skin-naturally.html" target="_blank">THIS</a> for another method).</span> <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">At the moment, oatmeal is my favorite method.</span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vQcbjaoHtbM/UNNcz62CTWI/AAAAAAAAAgk/-TslOsbzCXY/s1600/oatmeal-for-skin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vQcbjaoHtbM/UNNcz62CTWI/AAAAAAAAAgk/-TslOsbzCXY/s320/oatmeal-for-skin.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><u>How to use it</u>:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">- Wet your face with warm water first. Put oatmeal on the palm of your hand, wet it a bit and press it with your finger. Don't waste the yellowish water, but apply it on your face. Then start applying the oatmeal on your skin using circular motions and rubbing gently. Wet your hands from time to time, don't let it completely dry on your skin. I find it hard to remove if I let it dry. So, rub your face for some minutes and then rinse.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><u>The benefits I've noticed</u>: <br />The skin feels soft, hydrated(not oily) and exfoliated ( not flaky at all). Those with sensitive skin know how hard it is to find something gentle to exfoliate the skin. My skin didn't overproduce sebum like it has happened to me whenever I've used cleansers.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The overall appearance of the skin is improved a lot after you use oatmeal several times. I've also noticed that oatmeal helps get rid of pimples fast.<u><b><span style="color: black;"> </span></b></u>It really depends on the type of acne if it will help get rid of them but you don't lose anything if you try it.<br /><br />Tell me your results in the comments below :)</span></span><br />

As you may know different hair types require different care. All these characteristics should be taken into account when choosing a hair care routine that suits the individual's hair. For the last couple of months I've done everything to treat my hair properly, but it was breaking off. I would also try different products that would work for others but not for me and this made me confused. Then, it took me a while to notice that all this had to do with hair elasticity. If your hair is healthy it should stretch and go back to it's original shape. <br />My hair would stretch too much and it was left kind of stretched. On the other hand the ends of my hair wouldn't stretch at all and they would snap easily. This was happening because of <u>protein and moisture imbalance</u>. It is very easy to figure out what your hair needs by doing a strand test. Stretch a strand of hair to see what the problem is. In this way you will also avoid buying products that you DON'T need.</span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C8JdQhO4eJE/UKb2Y5VjfXI/AAAAAAAAAgA/Udd9faEf3jA/s1600/hair-care.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="206" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C8JdQhO4eJE/UKb2Y5VjfXI/AAAAAAAAAgA/Udd9faEf3jA/s400/hair-care.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">1)<span style="color: #741b47;"><b><u> If hair is shifted on the moisture side</u></b></span>:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Over-moisturized hair would stretch and stretch until it finally breaks off because it lacks a sound protein structure.Protein is what gives hair its structure and strength. If you are still unsure: If your hair is protein deficient it will tend to pull and stretch along with the comb and then break. So, to strengthen your hair you need to find a protein conditioner/treatment.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">2) <u><span style="color: #741b47;"><b>If hair is shifted on the protein side</b></span>:</u></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">When hair has too much protein it can feel rough and dry, and it is breaks off easily. To correct this you only need to use a water based conditioner/cream or leave in treatment. Anything that will give moisture to your hair. Avoid cheap, filler ingredients like petrolatum, mineral oil or lanolin in the products you buy.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><u><b>Alternative:</b></u></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">-A natural option is to wet your hair and then seal the moisture with some kind of oil or butter.I use coconut and macadamia oil myself, but any oil/butter will do. Keep in mind that oils/butters do not moisturize.<u><b> </b></u>They can make your hair feel softer, but your hair isn't hydrated. And if you apply them directly on dry hair you're also preventing moisture from entering the hair strands. I leave my wet hair coated in oil for a couple of hours and then wash it off.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /><b><u>Still don't know?</u></b> </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">If you still can't decide what your hair needs always moisturize your hair first. If you give your hair more protein than it needs it will be much more difficult to treat than over-moisturized hair.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">An advice, even though many of you may already know this : Never comb your hair when it is wet.<u> </u>I know it will be a little difficult for those whose hair tangles easily, but a good conditioner can solve that. Or comb your hair before you shower and try not to make a big mess when shampooing.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Protein-moisture imbalance isn't the only reason that your hair is falling out and/or breaking off. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>1.)</b> Before deciding to treat your hair with anything, make sure that <span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><u>malnutrition</u></span> isn't the reason why your hair is falling/breaking.This is the first thing you need to check.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>2.) </b>Overuse of a flat iron/curling iron/blow dryer.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>3.)</b> Persistent brushing or combing your hair.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>4.)</b> Hair dyes, straightening products and bleaches.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>5.) </b>Silicone buildup, which you can get rid of with an anti-residue shampoo.</span></span><br />

I've been using it for a month and I'm truly happy with the results.</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">First I have to say that my skin is <u>thin, sensitive and oily.</u> I haven't used any cleanser for the first two weeks on my face because I wanted to see only the benefits of rose water. I've used it twice a day(morning-evening) using a cotton pad and spraying it directly on my face.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">What it does:</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-It <span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><u><i>removes dirt</i></u></span> off skin.</span></span><br />
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-<span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><i><u>Removes excess oil</u></i></span>. For a week or two you'll notice that (mostly in the morning) your skin will produce more oil than it naturally does.<span style="color: black;"> </span>This is normal and you should give your skin time to adjust and <u>balance oil production</u>.(I've explained why this happens in the "<a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/06/no-poo-method.html" target="_blank">No poo method</a>"post).</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YN-AviVyDgQ/UHylQ3kYhXI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/Ktz2XCtPhtM/s1600/497394.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YN-AviVyDgQ/UHylQ3kYhXI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/Ktz2XCtPhtM/s200/497394.jpg" width="200" /></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Those with normal, dry or sensitive skin can use only rose water to clean their skin.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> If your pores clog easily</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">(oily skin types)</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> or you don't want to take any risks, I recommend using a mild(gel)cleanser on that area. For those with oily+ sensitive or thin skin is <u>necessary</u> to use a mild cleanser. Avoid any harsh ingredients like SLS-s, fragrances etc.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">-<span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><u><i>Evens out skin tone</i></u></span> and <span style="background-color: white;"><i>brightens complexion</i></span>. This is one of the things I love most about rose water. For even better results those that don't have a sensitive/thin skin can exfoliate(gently) beforehand.</span></span><br />
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-<span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><i>Hydrates</i></span>(of course).Your skin will look fresh and dewy.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-<span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><i>Tones</i></span> the skin.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-<span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><i>Broken capillaries</i></span>(if you have any) will be <span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><i>less visible</i></span> than before.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-I haven't noticed my pores to have shrunk,but I believe that those with non oily skins will have visible results.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-I discovered this one by accident and I'm very happy to share it with you.Before I went out one day, I used rose water on my face and I only applied foundation only under my eyes.(I didn't use concealer because I haven't found a good one yet.)When I came back after 6 hours it looked the same as when I applied it.I don't know if it will work as a <span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><i>make-up setting spray</i></span> but I think you should give it a try or just apply it underneath foundation and see how it works.I do this every time I go out now and it really works great for me.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-I've been getting <span style="background-color: #f4cccc;"><i>less white heads and pimples</i></span>.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><u><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">How to use it on <b>HAIR</b></span></u>:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">-Before showering apply some on the ends of your hair(if they're dry,damaged and non elastic) and coat them with oil.<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> </span>I use macadamia, but you can use any oil that you want, Shea butter or a leave in conditioner. Anything that can coat the hair to keep the moisture in.</span></span><br />
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-After you have showered apply some rose water on your scalp and roots. Don't do it before because your hair strands will be coated with oils so it won't penetrate the hair and it would be useless. It is said that rose water promotes hair growth but I still should use it for a longer period of time to see if it works or not.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><b><u>WARNING</u>:</b> Please do a skin patch test before using rose water.My mother had a severe allergy reaction and her skin at the spot where she did the test became inflamed.</span></span></div>

<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7_I77pdkTWg/UFpOGno-RjI/AAAAAAAAAc8/4ji3-EqE71Y/s1600/lip-care.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="163" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7_I77pdkTWg/UFpOGno-RjI/AAAAAAAAAc8/4ji3-EqE71Y/s200/lip-care.jpg" width="200" /></a><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The easiest thing that you can do to <u>get rid of chapped lips</u>:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<ul><span style="color: #444444;">
</span>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">-Every time you brush your teeth remember to exfoliate your lips genlty with your toothbrush using circular motions.If you do this everyday you won't even have to use a lip scrub.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">If you forget to brush your lips you can always prepare your own lip<u> scrub</u>. The <u><b>main ingredients</b> you're going to need are</u>: </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Sugar</span> (white or brown)</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Oil</span> ( olive oil, sweet almond oil, grape seed, sunflower, jojoba, coconut oil).</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Mix sugar and some oil of your choice. Start off with sugar first and then add oil to reach the right consistency.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Make sure the mixture it's not runny and feels kind of rough to the touch. You can always fix this by adding more sugar.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> This is the simplest recipe you can use.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> You can add more ingredients though, like: honey, fresh lemon(or orange) juice, peppermint oil and vanilla extract.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Some ideas:</span></span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Sugar</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">, </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Sweet almond oil,</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Honey.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Brown sugar</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">, Grape seed/Jojoba, </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Vanilla extract(few drops).</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Sugar,</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Coconut oil,</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Lemon juice.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><u>To moisturize</u></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> my lips I just apply honey or sweet almond oil several times a day.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">But you can <u><b>make your own lip balm</b></u> if you want.<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span>I found this video on youtube.<b> </b>I picked this among all the other videos I watched, because the recipe is easy and the ingredients are all natural. Enjoy :)</span></span><br />

<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">First you need to know what is <span style="background-color: #ead1dc;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">causing your problem</span></span>.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Besides fatigue there are many other causes of dark circles, like : Alcohol, smoking, emotional stress, allergies, poor circulation, rubbing your eyes, pollution, dehydration, vitamin C deficiency, pregnancy, </span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 16px;">Iron Deficiency Anemia</span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 16px;">,</span> staying up late at night and not getting enough sleep, too many hours spent in front of the computer, pigmentation irregularities, thinning skin, sun exposure, flu(or cold) and they can also be hereditary.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">-I, myself don't drink alcohol(except wine,rarely,since it's good for your health) or smoke and I try to avoid places where people smoke. This is mainly because I can't breath properly when the air is polluted. I also try not to get stressed.</span></span></div>
<div>
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: #ead1dc;"><u>What I do</u></span> :</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y3O_W1Ge6gc/UDQZpTNmhXI/AAAAAAAAAcM/5cLRFA6LJvA/s1600/rose-water-help-skin-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y3O_W1Ge6gc/UDQZpTNmhXI/AAAAAAAAAcM/5cLRFA6LJvA/s200/rose-water-help-skin-1.jpg" width="200" /></a></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1</span>.</span><b> </b>I always <i>keep the eye area clean</i>. When you wake up in the morning always wash your face and eyes with (warm and then cool) water, but be as gentle to your eyes as you can. The skin is very thin and sensitive. If you feel like water isn't enough you can use <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/10/rose-water.html" target="_blank">rose water</a> afterwards to cleanse your eyes. Helps reduce dark circles too.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">2</span>.</span> <span style="color: #444444;">Then, before I go out I apply some <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/06/grape-seed-oil.html" target="_blank">grape seed oil</a> under my eyes(and my face). Grape seed oil is easily absorbed, very light and suitable for oily skins. It also contains beta carotene(protects from sun). After it is absorbed I continue applying sunscreen(will prevent skin weakening) and don't forget to wear a hat or sunglasses. I don't wear sunglasses often though because there exist some risks from poor quality sunglasses.<span style="color: black;"> </span>Read <a href="http://realdoctorstu.com/2011/04/26/the-shady-truth-about-sunglasses-are-your-eyes-safe/" target="_blank">here</a>. So, hat it is! :D</span></span></div>
<div>

It worked very good with my organic deep conditioner(heat protectant as well), but the bottle isn't that big and I didn't want to use it up so fast(my hair is also long), so I needed a conditioner.<span style="color: black;"> </span>I bought a silicone based conditioner and now I regret it. I don't really know if it was the type of silicon or alcohols in it, but my hair became dry and brittle only after using it twice in 5 days. That 'conditioner' was only wrapped around my hair strands and made it feel soft while maybe those other ingredients were damaging it. Then, I tried my organic product and it didn't work, so it was obvious to me that something was preventing it from penetrating the hair strands. As I said I don't know what ingredients made my hair like that , but it ended up looking very bad. In a situation like this, here is what you can do:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The two things that you can use to <b><u>remove build up from your hair</u></b> are : </span></span><br />
<br />
<u><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Baking soda and Apple cider vinegar.</span></span></u><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I think the best way to use them it would be like I have described it in "<a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/06/no-poo-method.html" target="_blank">the no poo method</a>" post.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I don't recommend using <u>only</u> baking soda if your hair is dry.<u> </u>BS is slightly alkaline and it will open up your cuticle. In this way it will make your hair a mess and even drier. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">As for the ACV you can use it in <u><b>two other ways.</b></u></span></span><br />
<ol><span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-obvt5-RL2HQ/UByZwDGpIQI/AAAAAAAAAbs/7V3R5BzwMRM/s1600/apple-cider-vinegar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="147" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-obvt5-RL2HQ/UByZwDGpIQI/AAAAAAAAAbs/7V3R5BzwMRM/s200/apple-cider-vinegar.jpg" width="200" /></a></span>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Fill with lukewarm water a water bottle,add 4 tablespoons of acv and use it after shampoo.Just like you would do with a conditioner.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Fill the sink with lukewarm water(make sure the sink is very clean,without any soap residue) and add 3/4 cup acv. Soak your hair for 4-5 min, then squeeze and rinse. This is what I did about 3 hours ago and my hair feels so soft now. It doesn't smell at all even if it's still damp. I didn't shampoo previously, but I'm washing it after a few hours. When to use it,before or after shampoo, is your choice. Try and see what works best for you. Acv will also help with removing mineral build up in your hair.</span></span></li>
</ol>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> </span></span><br /><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"></span></span><ol>
</ol>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I wouldn't consider a clarifying shampoo an option because the acv gets the job done and it <u>doesn't strip your hair color</u>.A clarifying shampoo used too</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> often and depending on how strong it is would remove your hair dye,unless this is what you want.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">And this is it.So easy!!!</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I hope I haven't forgotten anything. If you have any questions ask me in the comments :)</span></span><br />

<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><u>What causes these areas to become dark</u> in the first place ? :</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span style="color: #741b47;"><b>1.</b></span>Lack of exfoliation causes dead skin cells to build up.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span style="color: #741b47;"><b>2.</b></span>Lack of moisture(plus, the skin doesn't produce oil on these areas).Dry skin tends to become dark easier.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span style="color: #741b47;"><b>3.</b></span>Rubbing against clothes.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span style="color: #741b47;"><b>4.</b></span>Kneeling and leaning your elbows.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span style="color: #741b47;"><b>5.</b></span>Dirt.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I noticed that for me, exfoliating and moisturizing alone helped these areas lighten up.<b> </b>But for those who really have trouble getting rid of the dark parts, here is what you can do:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">First you're going to start with <u>exfoliating the skin</u>. You can do it using:</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">- </span><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #6aa84f;"><b>A bath brush</b></span> ..</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">- <span style="color: #6aa84f;"><b>B</b></span><span style="color: #6aa84f;"><b>aking soda</b></span> <span style="color: #444444;">(if your skin is too sensitive you can replace it with oatmeal)..or..</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">- </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #6aa84f;"><b>A towel</b></span></span> </span><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">soaked in hot water.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">We only want to exfoliate, that's why you're not going to include any oils in the fist step.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mMXkoELXmHU/UBaLXiu2khI/AAAAAAAAAbM/OeuiyjCeewo/s1600/Dark-Elbows-and-Knees-how-to-remove-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="196" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mMXkoELXmHU/UBaLXiu2khI/AAAAAAAAAbM/OeuiyjCeewo/s200/Dark-Elbows-and-Knees-how-to-remove-1.jpg" width="200" /></a><b><u><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Second step</span></u></b><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b> :</b> For the recipe you're going to need:</span></span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">4 tablespoons milk</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">1 tablespoon lemon juice</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">1 teaspoon vitamin E</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">1 teaspoon honey</span></span></li>
</ul>
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Massage well and leave the mixture on for 10-15 minutes before washing off.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><u><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Last but not least</span></u><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">: Moisturizing. Use a moisturizing cream or you can use olive oil, sweet almond oil or any other oil that you like to use. Apply twice a day.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Don't skip any day without moisturizing your knees and elbows.</span></span><br />

</div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">After using <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/05/henna-for-hair-color.html" target="_blank">henna</a>, I had to give up the <a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/06/no-poo-method.html" target="_blank">no-poo method</a> for some time because my hair needed a lot of conditioning to get like it was before. Finally I managed to get it in its previous state and decided to start the no-poo routine again. This time I thought to switch gradually. The main reason I still want to do this is because my hair doesn't get nearly as oily as it used to. If I washed my hair today, the next day it would look like it hadn't been washed for a week. But when I was using B.S and acv I could go many days without washing it.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">My hair is dense and wavy. Since I have a layered haircut this means that only half of my hair gets oily and half remains dry. It also used to be coarse, but recently I have noticed it is more fine-medium textured.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I have to explain these things because the way you treat your hair and its characteristics affect the outcome of the products you use.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Anyway, I have purchased Avalon Organics Thickening Shampoo recently and I'm very pleased I did so.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><u>The reasons I purchased it</u>:</span></span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">It is cruelty-free. Listed on Peta and Leaping bunny.</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Certified organic (70% organic content)</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Signer of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics (</span><a href="http://safecosmetics.org/" style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">safecosmetics.org</a><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">)...No parabens,harsh preservatives,synthetic colors or fragrances,Phthalates or SLS.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<u><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">How it works so far:</span></span></u><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RNhxmbFY8tA/T_sDIS5BISI/AAAAAAAAAZs/iQkIx5PfzOM/s1600/DSCN0499-1-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RNhxmbFY8tA/T_sDIS5BISI/AAAAAAAAAZs/iQkIx5PfzOM/s400/DSCN0499-1-1.jpg" width="191" /></a><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b>1</b>.It leathers just fine.It may feel like it doesn't but it sure does.You may need a little extra or lather twice if your hair gets extremely greasy.Concentrate more on your scalp and don't make your hair a mess when you massage it or it will get tangled.</span></span><br />
<br />
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b>2</b>.Because of my previous experiences with organic shampoos I was expecting my hair to become dry,but to my surprise, it didn't.On the contrary, it made my hair <u>soft</u>.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Keep in mind that I don't use it daily.I use it 2 (sometimes 3) times a week.It goes something like this (Monday-shampoo,Wednesday-B.S,Friday-shampoo and so on.)</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">-You still need to use a conditioner on the ends.Your hair gets soft,yes,but you'll need to make it smooth, too.I use olive oil before shampooing instead, with even better results.Using a conditioner really depends on how damaged or dry your hair is.</span></span><br />
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b>3</b>.It <u>doesn't weigh down your hair</u>, hence it will look fuller.This is what I like most.I don't know if it really thickens your hair strands though( I haven't used it long enough), but making it look like you have more hair it's enough for me.My friends have noticed this and it makes me happy that it's not just an illusion.</span></span><br />
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b>4</b>.It is still early to tell if it prevents hair-loss.Doesn't help with dandruff.Well, it doesn't claim to do so :)</span></span><br />
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b>5</b>.</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">It has a nice smell and it's clear in color.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">As you can see from the picture this is the new formula I'm writing about. People say that this isn't as good as the old one and since this works very well for me, I'm curious to know how the old one would've worked..</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This far, this is all I've noticed.<b><u> </u></b>Feel free to share your reviews of this shampoo with me and if anyone has tried the thickening conditioner biotin b-complex, please tell me how it works. </span></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b><u><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Important</span>:</u></b> Before buying any shampoo/conditioner make sure what the NEEDS of your hair are. If it needs moisture and you're treating your hair with protein your hair will become dry and brittle. <i><a href="http://healthybeautyforyou.blogspot.com/2012/11/hair-breakage.html" target="_blank">Click here</a></i> for more info.</span></span></div>

This is not a video to scare people. I think it's very helpful and makes people aware of what is going on. Then they'll be able to make the choices they want.</span><br />
