My hair is dense and wavy. Since I have a layered haircut this means that only half of my hair gets oily and half remains dry. It also used to be coarse, but recently I have noticed it is more fine-medium textured.
I have to explain these things because the way you treat your hair and its characteristics affect the outcome of the products you use.
Anyway, I have purchased Avalon Organics Thickening Shampoo recently and I'm very pleased I did so.
The reasons I purchased it:
- It is cruelty-free. Listed on Peta and Leaping bunny.
- Certified organic (70% organic content)
- Signer of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics (safecosmetics.org)...No parabens, harsh preservatives, synthetic colors or fragrances,Phthalates or SLS.
1.It leathers just fine.It may feel like it doesn't but it sure does. You may need a little extra or lather twice if your hair gets extremely greasy.Concentrate more on your scalp and don't make your hair a mess when you massage it or it will get tangled.
2.Because of my previous experiences with organic shampoos I was expecting my hair to become dry,but to my surprise, it didn't.On the contrary, it made my hair soft.
Keep in mind that I don't use it daily.I use it 2 (sometimes 3) times a week.It goes something like this (Monday-shampoo,Wednesday-B.S,Friday-shampoo and so on.)
-You still need to use a conditioner on the ends.Your hair gets soft, yes, but you'll need to make it smooth, too.I use olive oil before shampooing instead, with even better results.Using a conditioner really depends on how damaged or dry your hair is.
3.It doesn't weigh down your hair, hence it will look fuller. This is what I like most.I don't know if it really thickens your hair strands though( I haven't used it long enough), but making it look like you have more hair it's enough for me.My friends have noticed this and it makes me happy that it's not just an illusion.
4.It is still early to tell if it prevents hair-loss.Doesn't help with dandruff.Well, it doesn't claim to do so :)
5.It has a nice smell and it's clear in color.
As you can see from the picture this is the new formula I'm writing about. People say that this isn't as good as the old one and since this works very well for me, I'm curious to know how the old one would've worked..
This far, this is all I've noticed. Feel free to share your reviews of this shampoo with me and if anyone has tried the thickening conditioner biotin b-complex, please tell me how it works.

have you tried the conditioner. I am thinking of buying the conditioner and using it as a leave in agent while I swim so chlorine doesnt damage my hair.
