In my previous post I wrote about how to bleach your face in the summertime and it occurred to me that it can be a very good recipe to use to get rid of dark elbows and knees. But besides the recipe we're going to do 2 more things: exfoliate and moisturize.
What causes these areas to become dark in the first place ? :
1.Lack of exfoliation causes dead skin cells to build up.
2.Lack of moisture(plus, the skin doesn't produce oil on these areas).Dry skin tends to become dark easier.
3.Rubbing against clothes.
4.Kneeling and leaning your elbows.
5.Dirt.
I noticed that for me, exfoliating and moisturizing alone helped these areas lighten up. But for those who really have trouble getting rid of the dark parts, here is what you can do:
First you're going to start with exfoliating the skin. You can do it using:
- A bath brush ..
- Baking soda (if your skin is too sensitive you can replace it with oatmeal)..or..
- A towel soaked in hot water.
We only want to exfoliate, that's why you're not going to include any oils in the fist step.
Second step : For the recipe you're going to need:
Massage well and leave the mixture on for 10-15 minutes before washing off.
Last but not least: Moisturizing. Use a moisturizing cream or you can use olive oil, sweet almond oil or any other oil that you like to use. Apply twice a day.
Don't skip any day without moisturizing your knees and elbows.
