Hair mask recipes

 Lately I have been preparing a lot of hair masks to soothe and nourish my hair. I was left with straw-like hair after using henna, even though it was my fault for not using it properly.

  1.Olive Oil 

This is one of my favorite masks. I bought a bottle of extra virgin olive oil (choose a cheap one) and I use it on my hair once a week. My hair is long and thick, but I manage to coat it all with only 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

  You are going to need: 
 
  - a container 
  - 2 tablespoons olive oil (you can use more or less depending on your hair texture and length,it doesn't have to be 2)
  - a hair dye brush or a comb


How to:

I wrap a towel around my neck and shoulders and divide my hair into small sections.  Then I start the application with a fine-toothed comb. It works better than the brush. I make sure to get my tips very well. If you have oily hair like me and you apply the olive oil on your roots ,your hair is going to get greasy just a little sooner than it usually does. No big difference. To stay on the safe side, avoid the roots and apply it on the rest of your hair. (I recommend using it on your scalp once a month though,because olive oil treats some scalp problems. Just try it and see how it works for you.)
I wrap my hair with saran wrap and leave it like that for 30 minutes. Then I shampoo once or twice.
Another way is to heat the olive oil in the microwave (you want the oil to be warm but comfortable to handle, not hot) and use it like a hot oil treatment. The application is the same as described above. (best for those with dry hair).



    2. Mayonaise

It is necessary to section your hair carefully when applying mayonaise because it is sticky and  feels very heavy on your head. Mix it with a little water if you don't like its texture. I apply it the same way as I do with the olive oil, wrap the hair with saran wrap for 15 minutes and then wash it off. Your hair is going to feel so smooth and look shiny. Two tablespoons are enough for me. You can even add a little olive oil. I avoid applying it on my roots, I don't need that extra shine on my scalp. Mayo really works wonders on dry and damaged hair. It's giving your hair moisture and proteins at the same time. And it works best when I rinse it off with cool water. You would want to use it rarely though because it can cause build up. But if you already use it often there is a solution to remove it: Vinegar rinse.


    3. The recipes I used to lighten my hair worked extremely well. That was the time I will always remember (:D) because my hair couldn't get any better. Silky smooth literally. The basic ingredients were honey and olive oil. If you leave them on for a short period of time(15 minutes) or If your hair is dark I believe it won't affect the color of your hair. But if you don't care about it use them as described in my recipes.

An alternative: You can melt honey in the microwave (make sure it's not hot), add olive oil and apply it on your hair with your fingers. Use a wide tooth comb to help it spread better and keep your hair from sticking and getting messy. Leave it on for 10 minutes and shampoo twice.

(An advice: when you rinse the masks be careful because they may leave oily residue in your shower and you or other members of your family may fall.)
